Slack Link

Link your Slack channels to your repositories to capture the institutional memory hidden in your team's daily conversations.

Capturing Intent

Slack is where the "Why" behind project changes is often born. Lem bridges the gap between ephemeral chat and persistent project history:

  • Channel Linking: Map specific channels to repositories to create a focused project memory.
  • Conversation History: Lem automatically organizes related messages into linked discussions for easy retrieval.
  • Slack Assistant: Proactively reaches out directly in Slack when important project information is missing.

Setup Instructions

1. Authorize Slack

Go to Settings > Integrations and click Connect on the Slack card. This will install the Lem app into your Slack workspace.

2. Sync Channels

Click Sync Channels to refresh the list of public and private channels available for linking. Private channels require inviting the Lem assistant first.

3. Link to Projects

Open a Project card in the dashboard, click Connect Slack, and select the corresponding channel. This ties all future updates to this conversation stream.

The Assistant Lifecycle

The Lem assistant automatically joins linked channels. It operates in Listen-Only mode until a gap is detected, at which point it will reach out to the relevant team member.

"Note: Lem never stores your raw chat history. It only indexes key decisions and rationale relevant to your project."
